Merkel, Dalai Lama Meet in Berlin Over China's Objection
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, have held private talks in Berlin over the objections of China. Ms. Merkel's spokesman issued a statement Sunday saying the chancellor assured the Dalai Lama of her support for his efforts to preserve Tibet's cultural identity, and for his non-violent pursuit of religious and cultural autonomy. The statement said the 72-year-old Dalai Lama emphasized the peaceful, non-violent nature of his work, which he said does not include Tibet's independence from China. Today's landmark meeting between Chancellor Merkel and the Dalai Lama took place over the objections of China, which regularly accuses the Buddhist holy man of...

Your Story: The Focus of Your Attention
Once you understand how your mind works, you must question the truth of what it has been telling you. This allows you to shift from a closed state of mind to openness. First, we will describe how your mind creates your story, and then we will give you a simple method to shift your view of the story it has created. Notice we did not say you created the story. Your mind did, and as you will see, you are not your mind. The illusory sense that your mind is you is what is often referred to as the ego. Albert Einstein once commented that the ego is "an optical illusion of consciousness." The Toltecs of Mayan culture called it the Parasitic Mind. In Zen Buddhism it is referred to as Monkey Mind. You might...
Good Health Requires . . .Good Balance
Copyright 2006 Cole's Poetic License If you are in good health, you're balanced. If you are sick, you've lost some balance, temporarily I hope. Hang with me here. Picture yourself swinging between Yang and Yin over a precipice. When you stop swinging you see a ledge. You stand on it, safely. Now, if you're unfamiliar with Eastern medicine, consider the Aristotelian Mean. Aristotle advocated following a path between two extremes. If you swing too far in either direction you are apt to get sick. Since I have skimmed the surface of Eastern Philosophy, Aristotle, Stephen Hawkings' string theory, brain research, religions, meditation, and Western medical science, I am no authority, but I can show...
Personality Of Kathmandu - Charming And Beautiful
It is hard to find words that do justice to wonderful Kathmandu. One ridge away from the highest mountains in the world, and thronged by a million Hindus and Buddhists, this pricely city is the archetypal mountain kingdom - mystical, magical and arcane. Temples loom out of the mist around every corner and the cobbled streets resound with the chanting of mantras and the chiming of temple bells. At dusk, the city is transformed into a cut-out of stupas, prayer flags and temple spires. On clear days, a wall of snow-covered mountains rises behind Kathmandu and eagles soar majestically overhead on the high Tibetan winds - it is like the special effects from The Lord of the Rings, but right there...

Spiritual Meditations - Essential Tips
Always sit up straight when following a spiritual development meditation. The idea is to allow your body to relax completely yet keeping your mind awake. If you meditate lying down, it is quite likely you may fall asleep and you will not gain any active spiritual development. Also it is difficult to "ground" and protect yourself. Be comfortable when doing meditation exercises. Again the idea is to let your BODY go to sleep and let your mind enter into its psychic growth. Uncomfortable clothes or shoes keep irritating the body so you cannot relax enough! Try to find a warm place to meditate. If your body is working overtime trying to keep your temperature up, it will not be able to relax. Do not...

Attention All Healers and Nurse Healers
Late at night, one night after the time change, working an extra hour at warp speed, I taught one of my nurse colleagues how to do Mechano-Magic! I taught her first by asking her to watch another nurse friend do the treatment on me, then she received the treatment. Now she needs to give me the treatment so I can evaluate her touch. She asked me: do patients think it's weird when you offer to give them a treatment? Do they ever say No? I had to think about this. No, no one has ever refused the treatment, unless she is in active labor, at which time, she doesn't want anyone to come near her. This is not always true, but is true most of the time. One of my patients is in the hospital for pre-term labor...

Shih Tzu - Early Beginnings Of Our Beloved Shih Tzu And "white" Shih Tzu
In the Pavillion of Green Ripples in the Imperial Garden, Forbidden City, Beijing (formerly Peking), China, ShihTzu romped with each other, the enunchs, and the Empress and her attendants. Shih Tzu was a highly valued companion of the Palace. The Summer Palace, Peking (now called Beijing), was where the Dowager Empress ruled her Empire during the summer months. Her Shih Tzu and favorite attendants resided in the Summer Palace throughout her annual stay. An American was actually among the very first to receive a Shih Tzu as a gift from the Dowager Empress. Sarah Conger, wife of American Minister to China Edwin H. Conger, received the Shih Tzu from the Dowager Empress in 1903. Centuries ago when East...
Goji: Nature's Wonder
What Is Goji? There is a lot of talk about goji berries in the market today, which makes one wonder about what this so-called miracle fruit really is. The goji berries come from a vine-like plant that can sometimes reach 15-20 feet in height. This is commonly found in the Ningxia Province in China. Many people describe the goji berry plant as a mix between a grape vine, and a tomato creeper. Legend has it that in about 800 AD, during China's Tang Dynasty, some unidentified berries were found growing on a vine near a well next to a Tibetan Buddhist temple in the Himalayas. As time passed, these goji berries dropped off the vine and into the well. The monks who drank the water were exceptionally...
Spiritual Unity
When the Bible speaks of two witnesses, there just may be a deeper message than what meets the eye. Could it be the "I" and the "Am" that are the two witnesses? The me that has flesh and the me that is Spirit which when brought together becomes the "I am"? God is here and near, now! Think about it. It's the desire of all spiritual masters and particularly of Jesus, who became the Christ, that we ALL become ONE! Jesus repeats the "I am" identity (John 8:58) that God related to Moses in Exodus 3:14. I am is the spiritual unity of ME & HE (though God is not a gender). From there it's ME and my neighbors, and then ultimately ME and the whole religious world out there which is pretty darned big...
Israel's Chief Rabbi Invites Foreign Occupation
UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE! Israel's Ashkenazi chief rabbi, Yonah Metzger, has met with the Dalai Lama of Tibet (an alleged Buddhist god) and Israel National News reports that Metzger "suggested that representatives of the world's religions establish a United Nations in Jerusalem, representing religions instead of nations, like the UN currently based in New York. "Instead of planning for nuclear war and buying tanks and fighter jets, it will invest in peace." Apparently a peace apart from the biblical blueprint, without proper repentance, and based upon misguided human efforts easily manipulated for political purposes. Has the chief rabbi gone mad? Is Rabbi Metzger now a rabid meshuggah? Has God hardened...
Gansu, the Mainland's Little Lhasa by Tom Carter
Gansu, the Mainland's Little Lhasa by Tom Carter In these over-publicized times of China's new railroad to Tibet, one might be better off avoiding the tourist circus than rnning away with it. Indeed, unless the reader has a certain fondness for overbooked hotels and intrusive, red hat-wearing tour groups, Lhasa is hardly the Tibetan delight that travel agencies continue to bill it as. Fortunately, lesser-traveled Gansu province in northwest China offers the cultural charm of Tibet without the crowds. Sharing borders with six other provinces except Tibet, it is physically unobvious that Gansu would be home to any kind of Tibetan population. This, coupled with the great shadows cast by the ever...
